World today is not a creation overnight, but an unending process of thinking, researching, analysing and learning. Where collecting data, and analysing came into limelight, showing importance in the pathway of development.
This early day technique has evolved as a science, currently referred to as “Data Science” which is massively used in the modern world due to rapid development in computational, information and communication technology.
To date, Sri Lanka has only touched the mere shallow waters in the paradigm of data science, and hence the higher education institutions of Sri Lanka have to be more sensitive to the modern day work demand, and meet the expected international standards
of a graduate. For which it’s salient to provide in-depth learning, industrial learning and researching platforms conducted in-house.
International Centre for data analytics and computing at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka is established as one of the hallmark platforms to take Sri Lanka to the next phase of research and development through multidisciplinary
data science research and development. This centre is launching its research projects, with an intention to reach international platforms in years to come. The quality of a product -tangible or intangible- are always
considered important , Therefore, the centre focuses on moulding researchers and industrialists that are of high calibre who promote and carry out high quality research fostering linkages between local and international
industries.
Success of a research centre always uses failure and continuous learning to uplift from where it stands. We, as a team, envision the possible future crisis and complications that might occur and do research, collect data and analyse them and to devise
a solution to avoid or minimize such a crisis.
